Psychotherapy and Neurofeedback explained.

Psychotherapy:
Psychotherapy, or talk therapy, is a way to help people with a wide variety of emotional, behavioral and or relational difficulties. Psychotherapy can help understand, eliminate or control emotions, thoughts or behaviors that cause a person distress. Problems helped by psychotherapy include difficulties in coping with daily life; the impact of trauma, medical illness or loss, like the death of a loved one; and specific mental disorders, like depression or anxiety. There are several different types of psychotherapy and some types may work better with certain problems or issues. Psychotherapy may be used in combination with medication or other therapies.

Neurofeedback:
Neurofeedback is a form of biofeedback that allows for self-regulation of brain function through stimulation and mental strategies. Neurofeedback is training in self-regulation. Good self-regulation is necessary for optimal brain function. Self-regulation training enhances the function of the central nervous system and thereby improves mental performance, emotional control and physiological stability. With neurofeedback we target bioelectrical functioning of the brain, which is actually a more important issue than the "chemical imbalance" that is often talked about. We are concerned with the brain's internal regulatory networks, and we train the brain's functional disregulation. Simply by detecting the brain going off track through the EEG, we can train the brain toward enhanced stability and improved functioning. (https://www.eeginfo.com/institute/clinicalservices.jsp#winf
Both Neurofeedback and Psychotherapy can be effective in the treatment of emotional or behavioral difficulties; depression, anxiety, poor concentration, anger, trauma, ADHD, to name a few. We can do an initial evaluation of your individual situation and determine the best treatment option for you. After the evaluation we can answer any questions that you may have about what treatment options you can benefit from.
